Vermeer FT300 forestry tractor earns Equipment Today award

Thanks to our loyal customers, the Vermeer FT300 forestry tractor with mulching head was selected as one of the 2016 Contractors’ Top 50 New Products! The honor — presented by Equipment Today magazine — is the industry’s only award program determined by end-user input. This is the second year in a row that Vermeer has earned a spot on the prestigious list.

The list is compiled based on the number of inquiries from more than 77,000 Equipment Today subscribers, as well as the number of visitors who engaged with FT300 product content posted on ForConstructionPros.com over a 12-month period.

“The Vermeer FT300 forestry tractor with mulching head was manufactured to help pipeline and right of way contractors clear a wide variety of vegetation on the most demanding terrain,” said Jay Sarver, commercial business manager – Recycling and Forestry, at Vermeer. “We’re honored that this machine was well-received by the land-clearing contractors that it was designed to serve.”

The FT300 mulcher head features a ringed rotor design that helps guide material to the 23 cutting tips for a cleaner cutting path, while also controlling the depth of cut. To customize cutting performance based on jobsite needs, you can choose from sharp planar, clad-faced planar or impact-resistant interchangeable tip options.

A patent-pending self-positioning deflector helps direct thrown material at a consistent angle regardless of head position.

The FT300 features a 300-hp (224 kW) Cummins QSL9 diesel engine that meets Tier 4 Final (EU Stage IV) emissions standards. It includes a horsepower “bulge” that allows an increase to 320 hp (239 kW) when the engine drops from 2,200 rpm to 2,000 rpm under load, helping to increase performance and productivity. With a 137-gallon (518.6 L) fuel tank, the machine has ample fuel capacity to allow you to work longer without interruption.
