Every pipeline project presents a new challenge. The way you approach a job today might be completely different than two years ago. That’s why you need a partner who understands your work is not routine.
Jim Freeborn gets it. Jim is a product area manager for Vermeer and is responsible for making sure your Vermeer horizontal directional drill is built to meet your needs. He oversees the day-to-day welding and assembly of the Vermeer 100,000 to one million pound (45,359.2 kg to 453,592.4 kg) directional drills. His job is far from routine.
“My team is responsible for welding, assembly and product support,” says Freeborn. “We work very hard making sure that every machine is built to our specifications.”
Pipeline contractors are running their equipment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and want to be productive and successful. The equipment they use needs to perform day in and day out. It’s just that simple.
“When a customer needs a new drill rig because they were awarded a bid, my job is to work to make sure everything is in place to meet the customer’s expectations and delivery schedule,” says Freeborn.
The best part of Jim’s job is building relationships with customers and seeing the equipment in action.
“We’re not just an equipment manufacturer, we are a business partner,” says Freeborn. “I tell our customers the thing that we’re going to give you that you can’t get anywhere else is the commitment of our men and women on the production floor. They are the ones who build the machine and replacement parts to help get your drill running.”
“Vermeer strives to support our customers, because if they’re successful, then we’re successful, says Freeborn.
It’s really that simple. Just ask anyone at Vermeer.
