Vermeer VXT400 and VXT500 vacuum trucks built for urban utility work

Vermeer VXT400 vacuum truck

The new Vermeer VXT400 and VXT500 vacuum trucks combine lightweight builds with extended boom reach for contractors working in tight urban spaces.

“These machines represent everything we’ve learned from talking to contractors over the years,” said Jake Jeffords, director of sales and marketing for Vermeer MV Solutions. “The goal was simple: help crews move more material, finish more jobs and work in more places.”

Lightweight hydrovac design maximizes payload

Both models prioritize weight management for contractors navigating federal bridge laws.

VXT400 vacuum truck:

  • Dry weight starting at 32,500 lb (14,741 kg)
  • 8, 10 or 12 yd3 (6.1, 7.6 or 9.2 m³) spoil tank options
  • GVWR options: 58,000 lb, 76,000 lb or 86,000 lb
  • 4,131 cfm (117 m³/min) airflow, 18 in Hg (0.61 bar)

VXT500 vacuum truck:

  • Dry weight starting at 35,300 lb (16,011 kg)
  • 10 or 12 yd3 (7.6 or 9.2 m³) spoil tank options
  • 5,018 cfm (142 m³/min) airflow, 27 in Hg (0.91 bar) vacuum

The 50-degree tank tilt helps material slide out quickly, and the cam-over hydraulic rear door provides reliable operation.

Vacuum excavator boom reaches further

“Boom length was the number one request from the field,” said TJ Steele, product manager for Vermeer MV Solutions. “The new 25-ft (7.6-m) boom gives operators the extra reach they’ve been asking for, and the camera system takes the guesswork out of positioning.”

  • 25 ft (7.6 m) reach with 330-degree rotation
  • 6-in (15.2-cm) or 8-in (20.3-cm) diameter options
  • Curb-side, side-stow design keeps the dig tube connected
  • Optional 360-degree camera with patent-pending boom reach radius overlay

The low-profile design at approximately 11 ft 6 in (3.5 m) overall height helps crews access sites with overhead obstructions like tree canopies and power lines.

Vacuum truck features that boost daily productivity

  • Dual digging capability allows two operators to work simultaneously
  • Hydraulically driven water system eliminates unloader valve and shuts off automatically when not in use
  • 3,000 psi (206 bar) water pressure at 10 gpm (38 L/min), optional 19.4 gpm (73 L/min) for tough soils
  • Reverse flow enables material offloading and clog clearing
  • Advanced controls simplify operation and shorten the learning curve
  • Interlock systems protect components and catch issues early
  • Intentional storage provides accessible space for tools and personal items
  • Common platform minimizes training time across a fleet

Vacuum trucks built for year-round urban utility work

Both models are designed for quiet operation, helping contractors work in residential areas where noise complaints can slow down or shut down a project.

Optional winter packages with heated water lines and cabinets extend the operating season into colder months.
